Hey Friends!
Hope you are all having a great summer. It’s been crazy hot here in Middle Tennessee but I’ve been super busy indoors anyway. Lots to share!
Film Short: Homeless
Recently, the script for the short film, Homeless won a finalist award in the script contest, Inroads Fellowship. It was a really nice surprise given that the script is not even a year old yet.
Here’s the logline for Homeless.
In a city plagued by forgotten promises, an otherworldly stranger has eight hours to find refuge for one of its forsaken or be condemned to an unwanted fate on Earth.
New Screenplay: The Book of Jon: A Blade of Saints & Angels
I just finished a new screenplay – it’s a full feature version of Homeless and has a much bigger story to it. When I first wrote, Homeless, I honestly thought, “Ok, that’s done. On to the next.” It came from a dream that I had one night that I couldn’t shake. It turned out that I couldn’t shake a bigger picture of it as well. This one is more of a grounded script with tons of action from the middle on out. The best way I could describe is that it’s a mixture of Constantine, John Wick and Touched by an Angel.
Imagine the character of Monica (from Touched by an Angel) if she had come down from heaven ready to kick some booty.
Here’s the logline for The Book of Jon: A Blade of Saints & Angels
In a dystopian city, an angel-turned-human and a former special ops soldier must rescue his sister and stop sinister experiments on the homeless before an order of Watchers eradicates humanity and drives the human race to extinction.
Right now, this piece is in the coverage phase which means people that know more than I are picking it apart and sending on their notes on how to make it the best it can be.
Voice Acting!
I’ve never been one to shy away from trying something new. Voice acting is something that was hidden in my heart for many years but there was never an opportunity to act on it until now. A writer colleague is producing a science fiction audio drama and she asked me to play a part. I was so honored by the ask but did not realize how much fun it was until we went into rehearsals.
My hope is to get more practice in with other works but the ultimate goal is to play a part in my own pieces. Time will tell. In the meantime, I’m learning all I can as I continue to scribble.
Well that’s it for now. I just want to leave you with a reminding encouragement. You’re never too old to learn something new. It’s never too late to start life anew. And as Dr. Seuss once said, “The more that you read, the more things you will know. The more that you learn, the more places you’ll go.”
So go…do what has been hiding in your soul and let it shine. The rest of the world won’t be complete until you do.
